">Senior Underwriting Director

This is a prime opportunity for an accomplished underwriting leader to lead and develop a high-performing team within the commercial lines space.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of a team of 6 underwriters and support staff, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Manage broker relationships, including authority for signing off larger discounts, driving revenue growth and business expansion.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and monthly audit processes are met, maintaining a strong reputation for excellence.
  • Chair weekly underwriting meetings and provide strategic input at board level, shaping business decisions and outcomes.
  • Support product development, renewal retention, and broker analysis, driving commercial success and growth.
  • Deliver performance and sales reporting in line with business objectives, providing actionable insights for informed decision-making.
Requirements:
  • A strong background in commercial underwriting across a range of products, with proven experience in managing or leading underwriting teams.
  • Excellent broker relationship and negotiation skills, with a commercially aware mindset and ability to contribute to product development and departmental strategy.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to oversee compliance and audit requirements, with a focus on maintaining a strong risk management framework.
  • Confident leadership skills, with a proven track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams to achieve exceptional results.
