Procurement Materials Lead Job Description

This role is a key part of our continued success and growth. The Procurement Materials Lead will be responsible for spearheading the purchasing process, ensuring stock optimisation, and supporting sourcing and procurement strategies.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
  • Execute procurement strategies as set by the Procurement Manager.
  • Track and manage large volumes of orders; expedite urgent orders as needed.
  • Ensure adequate materials planning to prevent shortages impacting manufacturing.
  • Organise and support annual stock takes.
  • Source and engage reliable suppliers and vendors.
  • Set up SLAs and commercial terms with suppliers.
  • Build and maintain long-term vendor relationships.
  • Procure materials to meet project milestones.
  • Control procurement budgets and promote cost savings.
  • Encourage continuous improvement using LEAN principles.
  • Develop procurement KPIs and report on them regularly.
  • Provide feedback on IT systems tracking shipments and inventory for improvements.
  • Report procurement savings and cost avoidance.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Understand and fulfill customer requirements.
  • Resolve queries with Finance regarding supplier payments.
  • Manage the flow of materials to ensure timely delivery to workshops and sites.
Key Skills:
  • Proven supply chain management experience.
  • Five years procurement experience.
  • Knowledge of contracts, purchase terms, invoicing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP processes.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills.
Requirements:
  • Experience in fast-paced environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Management experience in procurement and supply chain.
  • Knowledge of pricing, cost control, and contract reporting.
  • Experience in materials procurement within process mechanical disciplines.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Motivated team player with customer focus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
