About the Role

The Chief Compliance Officer will be a critical member of the Legal and Compliance leadership team at Smurfit Westrock, overseeing enterprise compliance initiatives and ensuring global compliance with laws, regulatory requirements, and data privacy statutes.

As a trusted partner to customers worldwide, Smurfit Westrock provides innovative packaging solutions using renewable, recyclable, and recycled materials. The company operates in 40 countries with over 100,000 employees, 500 converting operations, and 63 mills.

This role involves supporting the maintenance of a strong compliance culture, governance, and establishing global standards and procedures for identifying, preventing, detecting, and correcting noncompliance with applicable laws and regulations.

The Chief Compliance Officer will drive the development and implementation of worldwide best-in-class compliance programs, including standards of conduct, best practices procedures, policies, training programs, and internal monitoring and investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversight of enterprise compliance initiatives
  • Ensuring global compliance with laws and regulatory requirements
  • Maintenance of a strong compliance culture
  • Establishing global standards and procedures for compliance
  • Development and implementation of best-in-class compliance programs

Requirements

10+ years of international compliance program leadership experience, preferably including exposure to U.S., European, and other corporate compliance best practices, anti-corruption, competition law, sanctions, fraud, conflicts of interest, internal investigations, and cyber security.

Location and Relocation

Dublin, Ireland preferred. This is an international search. The company has an in-office policy.

Travel and Compensation

International travel is expected on a regular basis to the US and countries where Smurfit Westrock operates. Commensurate with experience. The package includes base salary, target bonus, participation in the company's long term incentive plan, and benefits.
