
Radiation Oncology Professional

This role involves providing high-quality service in line with National and International standards. The CNS will provide support and specialist advice to all disciplines of staff, patients, and members of the public regarding Radiotherapy.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Act as a role model through the provision of professional leadership and demonstration of best practices in Radiotherapy.
- Provide specialist nursing service for patients with a diagnosis of Cancer who require support and treatment throughout their care journey.
- Undertake comprehensive patient assessment incorporating physical, psychological, social and spiritual elements of care using evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) and patients to adjust management plans in accordance with agreed pathways, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
Clinical Practice Role:
The clinical practice role encompasses direct and indirect care. Direct care involves assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care to patients, families and carers. Indirect care relates to activities influencing and supporting the provision of direct care.
Audit & Research:
The CNS will identify, initiate and conduct nursing and MDT audit and research projects pertinent to the area of practice. They will also contribute to cancer care research across various aspects.
Leadership:
The CNS will provide leadership in clinical practice and serve as a resource and role model for cancer care. They will generate and contribute to the development of clinical standards and guidelines, supporting implementation.
Requirements:
- Currently registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses/Midwives held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- Oncology Qualification from an accredited institution or willingness to undertake the course and in-house training.
- Recognised post-registration nursing course – Higher Diploma or Post Grad course or pursuit thereof.
- Extensive experience and clinical expertise, minimum of 3 years (full-time or aggregate of 3 years full-time) post-registration experience in Cancer Care.
