Senior Data Engineer role at a leading financial institution. Location: Galway, Ireland.

We have an exceptional opportunity for a data engineer in Ireland to contribute to the delivery of modern data solutions. As a Senior Data Engineer your work will empower analytics solutions to enable leaders to make real-time business decisions, optimize their portfolio of work delivery, and bring more value to our customers and stakeholders. This understanding empowers associates and leaders to look across squads/teams, product areas, and domains to better understand dependencies, shared work progress and how their work connects to our overall strategy and Enterprise Priorities. Applications and technologies may include but are not limited to PowerApps, PowerBI, Tableau, and other Business Intelligence tools, intranet sites, proprietary systems, and data feeds that may flow between these and other systems. There are complex data movement requirements from internal and external data sources into our common ecosystem. We require an engineer who has significant experience in the design and implementation of strong data models to ensure our integrations are performant, reusable, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of data models to ensure performant, reusable, and scalable integrations.
  • Work with data movement technologies (ETL/ELT) and schedulers; utilize Python and shell scripting as needed.
  • Collaborate across squads, product areas, and domains to understand dependencies and align with our strategy and priorities.
  • Support the development of modern data solutions using tools such as PowerApps, PowerBI, Tableau, and other Business Intelligence tools.
  • Assist in delivering cloud-based data warehousing and analytics solutions.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of related experience in data engineering, data analysis, data warehouses, or data lakes.
  • Strong experience with relational database technologies (Oracle SQL & PL/SQL, Postgres, or similar RDBMS).
  • Experience with Snowflake, Dataverse, AWS RDS, Azure, or other cloud data warehousing services.
  • Strong expertise in ETL/ELT data movement and experience with Control-M and schedulers; proficient in Python and shell scripting.
  • Proven experience in understanding multi-functional enterprise data, balancing business analytic needs with data capabilities.
  • Excellent SQL skills and experience performing deep data analysis on multiple database platforms.
  • Knowledge of data modelling techniques (Relational, Dimensional); familiarity with data modelling tools (e.g., PowerDesigner).
  • Experience with data ingestion tools (e.g., Apache NiFi, Kafka) is advantageous.
  • Experience with APIs, Python, and Power Apps is advantageous.
  • Experience in data architecture (database design, performance optimization) and working with data in Jira/Jira Align/Workforce Connect domains is a plus.
