Director of Sport

The position of Director of Sport is a pivotal role in the development and growth of sports programmes.

  • Lead strategic planning for sport development, including partnerships, programmes, and athlete opportunities.
  • Develop and implement inclusive sport initiatives, promoting accessibility and excellence in governance standards.
  • Manage a team of sports professionals, fostering collaboration, high performance, and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement the organisation's overall sports strategy, aligning with mission, values, and long-term goals.
  • Provide leadership in growing the sports programme, enhancing athlete participation, opportunities, and experience.
Programme Management
  • Design and oversee structured athlete development and competition pathways, ensuring inclusivity and quality.
  • Strengthen the Clubs Programme, supporting volunteer-led clubs to provide structured sport with excellence in governance standards.
Athlete Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead the development of the Athlete Leadership programme, empowering athletes to take on leadership roles within sport and the wider community.
  • Manage the Sports Department staff and volunteers, promoting a culture of collaboration, high performance, and continuous learning.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, be passionate about developing and delivering sports programmes, and have a proven track record of managing successful teams.
