Job Description

We are seeking a Manager of Data Engineering to lead teams of talented data professionals. Our data platform powers both customer and business success, and you will be managing the teams that drive that impact every day.

As a servant leader, you will empower our business to engage more effectively with users so they can get more value from our products and services. You will manage the people who are responsible for delivering trusted, robust, and valuable data assets that are used across the business.

The domain-centric teams are responsible for the core data models within a defined business area, leveraging our centralized Unified Analytics Model. This allows us to understand and evolve our business. The teams also ensure stakeholders can build upon established assets and access data sets in a way that is useful and consistent.

Your team of data engineers will architect, build, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines while partnering with stakeholders and collaborating with data source owners within a set business domain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and grow a talented group of analytics and data engineers.
  • Deliver new data assets and improve existing ones.
  • Understand and communicate the teams' capacity and skills, aligning them to the roadmap.
  • Align work items and priority with teams within the Data organization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with analysts, system owners, engineers, product managers, and others to iterate on a data strategy.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Passion for leading others and helping them grow.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience leading a high-performing data team from a technical and business perspective.
  • Understanding of modern software development practices and their application in a data platform.
  • Experience with data tools and platforms like ELT, dbt, and BigQuery.
  • Proficient in SQL, able to debug and optimize queries.
  • Experience with Python tools for data engineering.
  • Ability to work effectively with distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • Understanding of business strategy and metrics.
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering or leadership.
  • 3+ years working in data: data engineering, data analytics, or data science.
