Deputy Manager Job Summary

St Michaels Preschool and After-school Service is a sessional pre-school service located in Ballyfermot.

We offer a morning sessional pre-school service for children aged 2 years 8 months to school going age, Monday through Friday.

Our after-school service is available for children from Junior Infants- 6th class who attend St Michaels National School.

This full time permanent position will provide effective management support to the Childcare Manager.

The Deputy Manager will have a thorough knowledge of the early years sector and be able to combine the practitioner role with the deputy management role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Regulatory and practice requirements of a sessional preschool and after-school service
  • Staff management and supervision
  • Engagement and partnership with parents
  • NCS portal
  • Experience working with school-aged children as well as pre-school aged children

The successful candidate will supervise and support staff in curriculum planning, observations and positive interactions with children.

They will ensure the curriculum links High Scope, Aistear, the National Curriculum Framework and the service develops standards linked to Síolta, the National Quality Framework.

The postholder will work closely with the Childcare Manager and the Board of Management.

Requirements:
  • Minimum qualification at QQI Level 6 in Early Childhood Care and Education or equivalent
  • Previous relevant experience in areas outlined above
  • Management experience essential
  • Self-starter with ability to motivate others, excellent communication and organisational skills

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4pm.

Job Location: Ballyfermot, Dublin 10.

Qualification Level: Minimum QQI/Fetac Level 6.
