Substation Electrical Design Team Lead

Overview:

A senior professional is sought to lead the engineering team responsible for substation design.


The Role:
  • Team Lead and Substation Technical Expert within the Engineering Team.
  • Ownership of electrical substation design: primary design, secondary design, design calculations, procurement specifications.
  • Lead team members, monitor progress versus costs and programme.
  • Review and approve team submissions in advance of issue, identifying value engineering opportunities where possible.
  • Support team members in projects as assigned throughout each contract.
  • Take ownership and actively manage substation design projects when required.
  • Identify design risks and propose mitigation techniques.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years hands-on experience.
  • Good knowledge of software: AutoCAD, ePlan, MS Office.
  • Experience with design studies and cable design software would be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of the substation, utilities and renewables sector.
  • Good understanding of the design and construction interfacing requirements.
  • Good client-facing skills.
  • Able to work independently and to manage a team.
  • Familiarity with ESB/Eirgrid specifications and design requirements an advantage.
  • Open to innovation and collaboration.
  • Proactive with the ability to think ahead.
