Job Title: Clinical Nurse Manager 2 - Cystic Fibrosis Unit

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced clinical nurse manager to lead our dynamic team in the care of patients with cystic fibrosis.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct, coordinate and provide high-quality evidence-based nursing services in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Roster and supervise staff, teach and train nursing and support staff, and ensure economical management of resources.
  • Enable the training and development of nursing staff in the provision of safe and effective practice through team leadership, management, and practical expertise.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care, setting standards of care and reviewing and updating nursing policies and procedures based on current and sound research.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional relationships within the nursing team and the multi-disciplinary team and clinical support services to ensure that a cohesive and effective service is provided within the ward.
  • Audit the work of the department and evaluate outcomes of care.
Managerial Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and implement bed management policy to ensure effective utilization of bed days.
  • Ensure effective implementation of admission and discharge arrangements for patients.
  • Prepare weekly duty rosters of deployed staff to facilitate workload and continuity of care.
  • Allocate nursing staff with appropriate numbers, skill-mix, and level of experience to meet caseload and other needs of the ward.
  • Ensure policies and procedures for locum/agency nurses are adhered to.
  • Arrange meal breaks to ensure adequate coverage of experienced nurses.
  • Guide, support, and supervise nursing staff to deliver best possible standards of nursing care.
  • Lead and motivate staff to influence change in response to a changing health service environment.
  • Maintain a suitable environment for patients and staff with emphasis on Health and Safety.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents involving patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Establish effective communications with Clinical Support Departments to ensure timely delivery of services required for individual patients.
  • Be responsible for the economical ordering and utilization of Pharmacy and Medical Supplies for the ward.
  • Ensure all Equipment is checked before use and that staff are trained in the correct use of such equipment.
  • Ensure staff take part in mandatory training on Cardiac Resuscitation, Handling and Lifting, Fire Procedures, Disaster Plan, Standard Precautions, Hand Hygiene.
  • Ensure accurate and adequate verbal and written nursing reporting systems.
  • Convene regular ward meetings to encourage a positive staff environment.
  • Contribute to the development of operational and strategic plans for the Ward.
  • Participate in the collection and collation of statistical and clinical data.
  • Create and maintain an environment conducive to evidence-based teaching, learning, and practice.
  • Act as an effective role model, mentor, and leader of staff.
  • Take all possible steps to promote the development of staff nurses and facilitating nurses to be autonomous and expert practitioners.
  • Identify training and development needs of individual staff assigned to the ward.
  • Facilitate appropriate study days for nursing and support staff in accordance with Department of Nursing policy.
  • Participate in the administration of unit budgetary/management.
