Chief Engineer Data Center Engineering Operations

The role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in data centers, operating independently with limited direct management. Key responsibilities include assisting in the design and build out of new facilities, acting as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center region, working OT hours as needed to support site stability, performing root cause analysis of equipment failures, and providing metric availability reporting on a weekly basis.

Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of data center infrastructure
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

This role requires a high level of technical expertise, excellent problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and provide exceptional customer service to internal teams and groups within the data centers.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate independently with limited direct management
  • Assist in the design and build out of new facilities
  • Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center region
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians
  • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff
  • Utilize internal Change Management Systems to manage building workflows
  • Provide metric availability reporting on a weekly basis
