Audit Manager
The Audit Manager plays a critical role in the success of our audit engagements. They are responsible for planning, developing project scope, maintaining budgets and timeframes, and ensuring compliance with department standards. This position is part of the Asset Servicing Audit Team within the global Audit Services department and reports directly to an Associate Director.
The successful candidate will contribute to upholding the design and operating effectiveness of the internal Asset Servicing control environment. They will interact with Senior and Executive management, leveraging technical expertise to evaluate risk areas across Asset Servicing and related regulatory topics. While this role is an individual contributor position, it also involves providing coaching and guidance to junior audit project team members, including training new employees or those with lesser experience, reviewing their work, and offering regular feedback.
Key Accountabilities:
- Identify risk areas and execute audit deliverables as part of the overall Asset Servicing audit plan in collaboration with the global Asset Servicing audit team.
- Evaluate business processes, controls, and operating practices during audit-related work, demonstrating professional skepticism.
- Assess the overall quality of control design, operating effectiveness, implementation, and sustainability through effective audit team review and challenge.
- Project-manage assigned audit deliverables end-to-end, overseeing audit team staffing, assigning tasks, and monitoring the budget to ensure work is completed within established timeframes.
- Ensure adherence to Department standards by reviewing audit team output, such as work-paper documentation, testing findings, and recommendations.
- Establish and develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Presentation and communication skills are essential in presenting audit findings to stakeholders and audit management.
- Interact regularly with Senior and Executive Management to assess risk, business changes, and other significant events that could impact the business and/or the audit plan.
- Implement data analytic techniques to support testing/assessment of the area under review.
- Draft the final report to ensure adherence to the Department's Policies and Standards.
- Conduct continuous monitoring meetings with the Asset Servicing business and Audit Services management.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Asset Servicing business risks, controls, and processes.
- Maintain a knowledge base on regulatory rules and regulatory changes within the Asset Servicing industry.
- Manage and perform special projects as assigned.
- Balance audit execution and development while contributing to monitoring the strategic direction of business function activities.
Qualifications:
- A College or University degree.
- Extensive experience in financial services or a similar regulated industry, with several years of strong experience related to auditing/risk management/compliance, or similar industry experience.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and/or frameworks.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills in both oral and written forms, including report writing and work paper documentation skills.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CISA, CIA, ACA, ACCA) or proven technical abilities in related areas (e.g., regulatory compliance, risk management, auditing, compliance).
- Data analytics tools and techniques that can be applied to support audit testing/assessments.
- Ability to manage through issues and realign priorities and deliverables as needed.
