HGV Technician

We are seeking an experienced HGV mechanic to join our team in Killarney, County Kerry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle maintenance and repair, with excellent diagnostic skills and the ability to work efficiently.

The role involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues in Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), as well as performing routine servicing and ensuring vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.

• Diagnose and repair faults: Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in HGVs and conduct necessary repairs.
• Routine maintenance: Perform regular servicing, including oil changes, brake adjustments, and inspections, to ensure vehicles meet safety and operational standards.
• Engine overhauls: Conduct major engine repairs or overhauls when necessary, including component replacement and system reconditioning.
• Electrical system repair: Troubleshoot and repair vehicle electrical systems, including lighting, wiring, and onboard electronics.
• Brake and suspension systems: Maintain and repair braking systems, suspension components, and other critical safety features.
• Compliance with regulations: Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet legal and manufacturer standards, including health and safety regulations.
• Record-keeping: Maintain accurate service records and reports on all work performed.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other mechanics, parts suppliers, and service managers to ensure efficient workflow.

The successful candidate will possess:

• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• A full driving licence – HGV experience is a bonus.
• Experience in a similar role.
• Flexibility and a willingness to carry out a variety of tasks and activities as required.
