We're looking for a skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) team, you will play a critical role in expanding our data governance capabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the technically sound onboarding of new data sources onto our Golden Dataset Platform (GDS).
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Analytics and Infrastructure organizations, to develop and integrate data quality standards into the GDS process. Your expertise will also be essential in providing guidance to domain engineers on implementing data source contracts, ensuring compliance with established data governance policies and standards.
To achieve this goal, you will collaborate with Product Managers and Architects to develop a long-term data governance strategy that aligns with eBay's business objectives and technological advancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and integrate data quality standards into the GDS process
- Provide expert guidance to domain engineers on implementing data source contracts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to onboard new data sources onto the GDS platform
- Work closely with the GDS metadata team to support a rich metadata lifecycle required for effective data governance
- Partner with Product Managers and Architects to develop a long-term data governance strategy
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Proven experience in software engineering with a focus on data governance, data contracts, or similar domains
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality standards, and metadata management
- Expertise in managing relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Ability to design and implement scalable data solutions that accommodate multiple data types
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
