Automation Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Automation Specialist to join our team.

About the Role

This is a challenging opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of automated manufacturing lines.

  • The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in controls, sensor technologies, and machine vision systems.
  • They will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement automation solutions that meet quality, reliability, and efficiency targets.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership in the development and implementation of automated manufacturing lines.
  • Lead the improvement, installation, start-up, validation, and transfer of automated manufacturing equipment related to machine controls, sensors, and machine vision.
  • Assess the efficacy, robustness, and reliability of controls, sensor, and inspection hardware/software solutions and propose improvements to meet reliability, capacity, and quality targets.
  • Coach and mentor junior controls engineers.
  • Oversee the resolution of technical issues related to controls, machine vision, servo systems, and sensor technologies used in automated manufacturing and test equipment.
  • Provide technical input into the design of new automation equipment to drive effective solutions.
  • Manage multiple automated manufacturing equipment projects simultaneously.
  • Generate or update equipment/automation documentation ensuring compliance with quality systems.
  • Identify potential risks, assess impact, and develop/implement mitigations.
Requirements
  • A degree in a technical discipline such as engineering, computer science, or physics.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in a related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing is highly desired.
  • Strong background in implementing and supporting controls systems, HMI's, sensor technology, servo drive technology, and machine vision systems into automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in programming or interfacing with robotic systems is desired.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-moving and changing environments.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving and risk management skills.
  • Strong understanding of risk management policies and procedures associated with medical device manufacturing is highly desired.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task and maintain a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Strong technical leadership and collaborative skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% may be required.
