Our Mission

We aim to improve the perception, safety, and quality of home care in Ireland. To achieve this, we have established the Hibernia Academy for Care, which provides a clear pathway to employment for individuals who wish to pursue a career in home care but require support to attain the necessary skills.

Programme Overview

The Hibernia Academy for Care offers a comprehensive training programme consisting of two QQI Level 5 Modules: Care of the Older Person and Care Skills. Additionally, participants receive training in practical care skills, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Persons, and Infection Control.

Training Structure

The programme includes:

  • 2-3 weeks of classroom-based learning (Monday-Friday) at our Dublin location
  • Support to complete QQI Care Skills and Care of the Older Person assignments
  • Induction and orientation with a qualified carer

Job Role and Responsibilities

As a trainee home care professional, you will work as a trained carer for Hibernia Home Care, providing care services to clients across North Dublin, South Dublin, and Kildare. You will be paid for time spent in the classroom, on orientation in the community, and then progress to full employment.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be available to attend the training on site in Finglas, Dublin 11 over 3 full weeks in May
  • Hold a full clean driving licence
  • Be willing to undergo Garda Vetting process
  • Have some personal/professional experience in care
