We are seeking an experienced accountant to join our team in Galway. As an audit expert, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of clients, including hotels, charities, and retail professional services. You will be responsible for carrying out audits on SME cases, preparing sets of accounts, and filing tax returns. A fully qualified accountant with audit experience is preferred, although part-qualified candidates with audit will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Liaising with clients to manage the workflow of accounting records and coordinating jobs to be done.
  2. Aware of client cases ahead and scheduling appointments with clients.
  3. Clients may include hotels, charities, construction, schools, and retail professional services.
  4. Audit:
    1. Carrying out audits on SME cases, including planning, materiality, fieldwork, and final reporting.
    2. Liaising with bookkeepers to improve accounting processes and make journal entries.
    3. Providing recommendations for improvement in the accounting process.
  5. Accounts Preparation:
    1. Preparing sets of accounts from client records, including supporting files and schedules.
    2. Maintaining a fully referenced accounts file with supporting schedules.
    3. Adjusting client records and making recommendations for change.
  6. Taxation:
    1. Preparing client corporation tax computations and returns for ROS filing.
  7. ROS:
    1. Experience using ROS for filing corporation and personal tax returns.
  8. Payroll:
    1. Manual payroll changes on ROS/Thesaurus as required.
    2. Disclosures for FRS financial statements using Sage.
  9. CRO:
    1. Comfortable with CORE and routine CRO filings.
Requirements:
  1. Fully or part qualified accountant with audit experience.
  2. Small practice trained – desired but not essential.
  3. Comfortable using various bookkeeping systems – TAS, Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
  4. Excellent prioritization skills.
