
Senior R&D Strategic Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our R&D Core Business Initiatives team.
- Job Description:
- Our R&D Core Business Initiatives team plays a critical role in driving innovation and improving business outcomes. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the team, developing and implementing strategic initiatives, and ensuring successful delivery of projects and activities.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement project portfolios, identifying and evaluating project opportunities, and resourcing teams accordingly.
- Manage project schedules, documenting progress, and initiating activities to execute project deliverables.
- Provide overall direction to research and development associates, controlling organization growth, and resource planning.
- Maintain required safety and security compliance, making safety and security an integral part of every task.
- Develop and manage budgets, cost centre expense plans, and financial plans to ensure cost effectiveness.
- Identify and utilize qualified external organizations to supplement in-house capabilities within approved project and operational cost plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate the introduction of new or improved technologies, providing required technical support and expertise.
Essential Functions of the Role:
- Confident understanding and application of medical device controls.
Work Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience in a technical role ideally in Research & Development or Process Development roles.
Educational Requirements:
- An honours Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Materials/Polymer Science or Engineering (ideally Polymer/Biomedical), or related discipline is required.
- A PhD in these disciplines would be an advantage.
Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge:
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities both in terms of strategic direction of a group and people leadership.
- Expert level knowledge of and proven ability in the supervision and development of associates.
- Demonstrated advanced analytical problem solving abilities.
- Exceptional organization and communications skills.
- Previous experience in technology and product strategy development and execution of research and development projects.
- Good working knowledge of materials and relevant technologies.
- Proven ability in conducting research and/or development activities, investigating and recommending solutions to problems affecting research and development activities, projects, and/or initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability in budget preparation and oversight.
