Job Opportunity: Support Children and Young People in Residential Care

Our Client is currently hiring Social Care Workers for full-time, permanent night shift roles in residential children's services across South Tipperary.

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and safety of children and young people in a residential setting during overnight hours. This includes ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met, maintaining a structured and caring environment, and working collaboratively with other professionals to provide high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent overnight care in line with individual care plans and contribute to creating a safe and supportive living environment.

  • Support the emotional and physical wellbeing of young people by engaging them in activities, providing emotional support, and responding to their individual needs.

  • Respond effectively to incidents or emergencies, using your initiative and professional judgment to ensure the best possible outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of young people's progress and participate in regular reviews and assessments.

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to share knowledge, expertise, and best practices, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Requirements:

  • Hold a minimum Level 7 qualification in Social Care or a related discipline, demonstrating a strong foundation in childcare theory and practice.

  • Have experience working in residential childcare or a related field, showcasing your ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.

  • Possess a solid understanding of child protection principles, trauma-informed care approaches, and HIQA standards, ensuring a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

  • Be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.

  • Be flexible and willing to work weekends, public holidays, and varying shifts, demonstrating a commitment to meeting the needs of the service and its users.
