The role of an Operational Risk Specialist at Northern Trust involves providing temporary coverage in Dublin for a 12-month period. The successful candidate will assume the Designated Person PCF39B (subject to CBI approval) responsibility for Operational Risk Management on behalf of Northern Trust Fund Managers Ireland Limited, which is authorized as a UCITS Management Company.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for experienced operational risk professionals seeking to leverage their skills in a regulated environment. The individual will collaborate closely with the global Risk team, focusing on supporting EMEA and APAC Asset Management business while reporting directly to the International Chief Risk Officer.

This challenging role is ideal for someone with a strong background in operational risk management looking to apply their expertise in a UCITS Management Company setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all operational risk considerations are effectively managed, including third-party oversight of key NT service providers and investment managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day oversight of operational risk processes
  • Performing the DP for Operational Risk Management role
  • Reporting to Boards and regulators
  • Ownership of Risk Management Framework document
  • Ownership of Risk Appetite Statement
  • Monitoring and assessment of risk appetite
  • Collaboration with other Designated Persons across the entity
  • Support of global non-financial risk processes
  • Participation in cross-functional committees promoting ongoing governance and strategic developments

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience in asset management risk roles or operational risk roles in a regulated business
  • Proven track record in a risk management capacity at a senior level, with comprehensive knowledge of asset management businesses, especially EU/UK regulated entities
  • Suitable qualifications and experience supporting the expectations of the PCF39B role (DP for Operational Risk Management)
  • Experience with regulatory communication and expectations, as well as knowledge of relevant CBI, ESMA, and UCITS regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication style according to audience needs when explaining complex situations
  • A global outlook, sensitivity, and awareness of social and cultural differences
