Business Operations Cost Management Professional
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated professional to oversee cost management activities in clinical trials. The ideal candidate will work at the portfolio, program, and functional levels to provide prospective and retrospective measurements of cost, productivity, efficiency, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand how Contract Research Organizations (CROs) apply their algorithms to support analyses regarding resourcing, cost, and assumptions at the functional level and by activity.
- Support and drive the continuous improvement of business analytics that provide prospective and retrospective measurements of cost, productivity, efficiency, quality, and compliance to facilitate timely and informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Clinical Study Managers to verify and challenge clinical study resourcing and cost estimates and assumptions at the study and program levels.
- Analyze data to enable comparisons of the credibility and overall competitiveness of study assumptions and cost estimates for new proposals with industry benchmarks and internal historical estimates.
- Track data to identify trends around costs and assumptions across vendors and therapeutic areas.
- Model the impact of changes in assumptions on cost and resource estimates.
- Contribute to driving continuous improvement in costing and process efficiency in collaboration with strategic vendors, study teams, and Procurement.
- Help develop new cost management processes and ensure utilization.
- Provide data and analyses to support the development of assumptions and cost criteria baselines for use during the study proposal review process.
Requirements:
- Experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical/CRO is required.
- A solid understanding of all operational processes required to deliver a clinical development program from first-in-human to post-approval is essential.
- High attention to detail is crucial.
- Excellent analytical and financial skills are necessary.
- Problem-solving abilities, troubleshooting, and resourcefulness are vital.
- Demonstrated effective influencing and negotiating, good interpersonal and leadership skills, and the ability to be a great teammate are essential.
- Experience with CRO and vendor bid grids is preferred.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships internally and externally, are necessary.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant industry experience, including prior clinical trial budget experience, is required. Prior experience in clinical outsourcing or clinical procurement is also preferred.
