The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon plays a critical role in our operations, ensuring that vital machinery runs smoothly at all times. As an RME Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of equipment and workspaces while upholding Health and Safety best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactive and preventative maintenance tasks on site equipment
- Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse environment
- Use the latest tools to maximize equipment effectiveness
- Uphold all health and safety policies and practices
- Support the development and progression of on-site apprentices
- Work on continuous improvement projects and roll out best practices across multiple sites
A Day in the Life
As an RME Technician, you will be based on-site, allowing you to respond quickly to any machinery issues. Your primary responsibility will be to carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks to ensure that our sites' equipment is working safely.
You will work alongside senior colleagues, undertaking day-to-day maintenance tasks such as painting and plumbing, and liaising with contractors when necessary. You will work on a range of shifts to ensure that our sites are supported around the clock, allowing Amazon to deliver at the speed it is known for.
About the Team
The Reliability Maintenance Engineering or RME team is responsible for keeping our equipment performing at its best. We are a technically-minded team consisting of excellent team players guided by experienced leaders.
We work together to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfillment centers. Some of our people are leaders, overseeing the team as they work on exciting technology – some of which only exists at Amazon.
From installing automated packaging systems to overseeing the general maintenance of a site and repairing key distribution equipment, our team handles most aspects of Amazon's technical side. This includes ensuring that buildings are legally compliant, so everyone is safe, and our sites are operating at maximum efficiency.
There are plenty of opportunities for progression, both within the RME team and more widely across Amazon. Everything we do focuses on reducing downtime in Amazon's crucial operations sites, so customers receive their orders on time.
Requirements:
- NFQ6 (Higher Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Engineering) or Solace/Solas level 6 mechanical/electrical or mechatronics qualification
- Experience of planned preventative maintenance systems
- Experience fault finding within MHE (Material Handling Equipment)/Automation systems
- Experience in interpreting both mechanical and electrical drawings
- Experience of conveyor maintenance, motor controllers/inverters

Desirable Skills:
- Apprentice Trained, HNC, HND, BSc, BEng
- Experience of high voltage switching
- Experience of sortation machines
- Experience of maintaining/configuring bar code scanners
- Experience of print and apply machines
- Experience in fault finding on building equipment i.e HVAC, Dock Doors, plumbing and general building maintenance tasks
