Senior Engineering Manager - Automotive and Industrial

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineering Manager to lead our team of dedicated engineers in adapting our products to automotive and industrial specific requirements. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the development of our Linux distribution and open source software strategy in Automotive.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and executing an engineering roadmap for the automotive team at Canonical, working closely with the Automotive Product Manager to refine the vision and strategy for automotive at Canonical. They will also represent Ubuntu and Canonical in the automotive community, in front of customers, partners and consortia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering Leadership: Lead a globally distributed team of engineers, guiding and overseeing their work to ensure timely delivery and high quality software.
  • Strategy Development: Work with Product Management to develop and execute a vision and roadmap for automotive at Canonical.
  • Community Representation: Represent Ubuntu and Canonical in the automotive community, in front of customers, partners and consortia.
  • Linux Distribution and Open Source Software Strategy: Lead our Linux distribution and open source software strategy in Automotive.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong Software Engineering Background: You have a strong software engineering background, with experience in Linux packages and embedded development.
  • Automotive Industry Knowledge: You have knowledge of automotive industry standards such as ISO21434, ISO26262, SOTIF, IEC 61508, and experience leading product development initiatives that fulfilled compliance with one or more of these standards.
  • Leadership Experience: You have experience leading, managing, coaching and mentoring software developers, with a track record of timely delivery and high quality software.
