Job Summary:

Retail Horticulturist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Retail Horticulturist to manage the day-to-day operations of our departments. This individual will be responsible for driving profitable sales, achieving KPI targets, and contributing to team meetings to drive business forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving profitable sales and consistent results
  • Achieving KPI monthly/yearly targets
  • Executing store specific plans
  • Contribute to team meetings to drive the business forward
  • Organizing store specific promotions and executing the setup
  • Supporting the development of categories & key lines
  • Working with store management on market research to ensure we provide the best product range for our customers' needs
  • Cross selling products increasing purchase amounts
  • Maintaining accurate inventory and books to ensure stock loss is within budget
  • Minimizing stock and margin loss through sales floor sales process
  • Effective and timely re-stocking of the store
  • Providing great customer service by consistently achieving service targets
  • Dealing with all customer queries including telephone queries in an efficient and professional manner
  • Processing payment and dealing with customer point of sales enquiries
  • Improving and maintaining a high-quality standard of store presentation
  • Effective communication channels put in place with other team members
  • Resolving common customer complaints
  • Being a brand ambassador for the company
  • Using own experience and skill set to guide and help other team members
  • Competitor visits to check for opportunities for our business to develop
  • Attending sales conferences to meet suppliers and gain expert training
  • Following and completing any Health and Safety tasks allocated by management
  • Developing own leadership capabilities through the use of own personal development plan
  • Being flexible during peak times and adjusting to support the stores needs to deliver the best results
  • Engaging and networking with other stores to share ideas and help support growth
  • Being flexible to work across various departments and other retail stores.
  • To maintain a high standard of display in the Garden Centre, and to assist the manager to merchandise the shop in order to make best use of the space available
  • To deal responsibly with customer complaints

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Previous relevant retail sales experience
  • Extensive plant knowledge
  • Understanding of sustainability and trends
  • Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Great customer service focus
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Computer skills with advanced levels in Microsoft and core systems or similar IT programs
  • Superior product knowledge
  • Commercial awareness
  • Maintaining a positive attitude and focus on customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Passionate individual that is willing to learn on the job
  • Coaching experience
