System Software Development Position

The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive knowledge of system software development, specifically in the area of kernel programming. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining a selected subset of the core kernel infrastructures.

This role involves working on the development and testing of kernel level code using C as the primary programming language. The successful candidate will also be required to exercise validation of systems from user space, including knowledge of user space APIs.

Additionally, they will support the design, development, and maintenance of major system components, as well as manage device driver development and support for various peripherals such as USB, network, graphics, video, mtd, storage, power management.

They will also be involved in the design and maintenance of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, debug, and test kernel level code using C
  • Exercise and validate system functionality from user space
  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of major system components
  • Manage device driver development and support
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines
Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software development
  • Proficient in Windows, Linux, and/or Mac operating systems
  • Proficient in C programming
  • Experience with computer architecture and server platform hardware
  • Knowledge of system software development in C and Python
  • Internals of Linux, Mac, and/or Windows operating systems
Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Working knowledge of virtual machine monitor technologies like VMware/Xen/KVM/Hyper-V
  • Experience with memory management and kernel programming
  • Knowledge about SR-IOV, SIOV, DMA, and PCIe
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization
  • Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Crucible)
  • Subversion exposure
  • Knowledge of Linux kernel internals

  • Job will generally be performed in an office environment but may require travel to visit company offices and/or property locations.
  • While performing duties of this job, would occasionally require to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects and tools.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
