Job Summary

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead teams in designing substations using applicable codes and client standards. Your expertise in electrical layout, AC and DC power systems, and equipment specification will ensure our projects meet the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Design substations with attention to detail, incorporating general arrangement, equipment and electrical layout, elevation views, cable trench, grounding, conduit drawings, details, bills of material, and AC and DC power systems.
  2. Develop ground grids based on industry standards and software utilization.
  3. Design lightning protection and grounding plans that prioritize safety and efficiency.
  4. Perform ampacity calculations, bus spans, and load assessments to guarantee system reliability.
  5. Prepare detailed equipment and material specifications for procurement and development of design scope and cost estimates.
  6. Participate in conceptual designs and layouts for facility planning studies.
  7. Ensure compliance with company Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes on all design packages.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is necessary.
  • Experienced professionals in substation physical design are preferred.
  • Direct experience working with electricity, preferably in utility settings, is valuable.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is an asset.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills and document management abilities are essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for success in this role.
