Day Care Nursing Specialist

Job Description

The primary objective of this role is to deliver high-quality nursing care and support services to individuals with intellectual disabilities. As a Day Care Nursing Specialist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering individualized programmes and activities tailored to meet the unique needs, choices, and abilities of service users.

This involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic support and promoting the independence, autonomy, and dignity of service users.

Key Responsibilities
  • To practice nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct as laid down by the relevant regulatory bodies
  • Adhere to national, regional, and local health guidelines, policies, protocols, and legislation
  • Work within your scope of practice and take measures to develop and maintain competence necessary for professional practice
  • Maintain a high standard of professional behavior and be accountable for your practice
  • Respect and maintain the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of patients
  • Follow appropriate lines of authority within the nurse management structure
Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates must possess a strong foundation in nursing principles and practices, with a focus on intellectual disability care. A registered nurse with a valid license to practice in Ireland is essential.

  • Proven experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, preferably in a day care setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to adapt to changing situations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to collaboration and mutual respect
  • Proficient in IT systems, including electronic patient records and communication tools
  • Valid Irish driving license and willingness to use own vehicle for work-related purposes (if applicable)
