Microbiologist Lecturer Position

Job Description

The University of Galway is seeking to appoint a highly qualified and experienced Microbiologist to join the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of Microbiology, as well as developing an independent research program.

As a Lecturer in Microbiology, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of researchers and educators who are committed to excellence in teaching and research. You will also have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources that will enable you to pursue your research interests and develop innovative teaching methods.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in teaching and research in the area of One Health, which includes zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food safety, and vector-borne infections. Candidates with expertise in sustainable world and infectious diseases research sections will be highly valued.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Microbiology and related fields.
  • Develop and maintain an independent research program.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and review.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related field, as well as significant experience in teaching and research. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Candidates with a strong track record of publication in reputable scientific journals and conference proceedings will be given preference. We are also interested in candidates who have experience in securing national and international research funding.
