Job Opportunity: Junior Buyer/Planner

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Junior Buyer/Planner. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the flow of goods and materials from suppliers to production. This includes:

  • Involvement in all aspects of procurement, including issue of purchase orders, checking acknowledgements, and arranging collection of materials.
  • Expedite, reschedule or cancel material deliveries as dictated by changes in demand, aligning supply with demand.
  • Dealing with shipping companies on a daily basis to ensure materials are collected on time and deliveries are received as expected.
  • Arranging for certificates of conformance to be available for all items prior to delivery.
  • Work closely with planning department and warehouses to ensure material availability meets the constantly changing production plan and customer demands.
Planning Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will also be responsible for:

  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of the planning model used in the company.
  • Suggesting improvements to the planning processes and assisting in the implementation of agreed improvements.
  • Management and maintenance of all planning parameters within the computer system, including safety stocks and re-order points.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Motivated and enthusiastic individual with ability to work on own initiative.
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Excellent computer/organisational skills, including experience with MRP systems and Microsoft Office packages.
  • Fluency in English is essential; a second European language (preferably French or German) would be an advantage.
Experience and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 1-2 years' experience in a purchasing environment, working with an MRP system.
  • Educated to a minimum of Certificate Level (preferably degree level) in a business related discipline at Third Level.
  • APICS or IIPMM qualification (or willingness to complete) an advantage.
  • Pro-active Self-starter with excellent attention to detail.
