Job Description:

  • Monitors and evaluates patient care processes and outcomes on the patient care unit to ensure that competent, compassionate, and efficient care is provided effectively.
  • Recruits and maintains skilled, empathetic employees while maintaining high performance standards and fostering fair labour practices.
  • Promotes a caring work environment by ensuring the availability of safe equipment and adequate supplies in an effectively organised physical setting.
  • Operates and participates in continuous quality improvement and risk management programmes at the unit level, working together with multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Attends staff meetings and analyses other postings to improve the collegial consultant-nursing interaction.
  • Ensures fiscal responsibility and monitors operational and capital expenditures while adjusting staffing patterns to improve unit productivity.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • The NMBI General Nurse licence is still valid.
  • Oncology nursing qualification recognised after registration.
  • Postgraduate qualification in oncology nursing is preferred.
  • Five years of clinical experience and two years of progressive managerial experience are necessary.
  • Three years' experience in an oncology day unit is essential.
