Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the clinical teaching programme in the junior, intermediate and senior cycle of the four and five year teaching programmes;
  • Contributing to the assessment of students in the junior, intermediate and senior cycles of the four and five year programmes. This includes development, delivery and evaluation of these activities;
  • Liaising with heads of department, project leaders for clinical competence and other relevant faculty members in planning, delivering and evaluating teaching programmes;
  • Providing resources and communication with student groups via the RCSI virtual learning environment;
  • D delivers the curriculum at a number of sites e.g. assigned hospitals, RCSI Campus St Stephens Green, RCSI Sandyford Institute of Leadership & Healthcare Management.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should possess evidence of registration with the Irish Medical Council, a keen interest in lecturing and interacting with undergraduate students, and excellent communication skills. It would be advantageous if the candidate had previous clinical experience in Respiratory Medicine, previous experience using E-learning/VLE systems, previous experience of teaching and assessing students in an academic environment, previous experience in research, completed at least 4 years of clinical experience post-internship, and MRCPI / MRCSI or equivalent.
