This revolutionary change requires a deep understanding of power system dynamics and the ability to analyze complex data sets.

As a Senior Engineer in our Transmission Power System Planning department, you will play a pivotal role in this revolutionary transformation. You will conduct power system studies and analyses to investigate the impact of customer connections on the transmission grid and evaluate the impact of these connections on the wider system.

You will analyze the results of your analysis and propose solutions where necessary, prepare presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholder engagement, and contribute to justifying investment decisions in the transmission grid. The role holder will support functions designed to achieve regulated energy targets and stakeholder needs in line with company strategy.

The Transmission Power System Planning department is responsible for designing connection methods for generation and demand customers who wish to connect to the electricity system and evaluating the impact of these connections on the wider system. We identify needs on the system, develop reinforcement options, and contribute to justifying investments decisions that ensure the transmission grid meets reliability and performance standards, supports renewable ambition, and addresses climate change targets.

About You
  • An engineering degree, typically with 4+ years' experience of power systems
  • Demonstrated experience in carrying out power system modeling and analysis using power systems analysis software such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, and Plexos
  • Awareness of energy targets and ambitions for decarbonization of the energy sector
  • Good, developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Self-motivation, enthusiasm, and the capability to deliver in the context of changing parameters/requirements
  • A passion for delivering on our vision and strategy
