Job Description

The Registered Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role is a highly skilled nursing position that requires the delivery of high-quality patient care in line with the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery's five core concepts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver specialist nursing care to patients suffering from memory disorders, cognitive function changes, and dementia.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide seamless care services.
  • Practice based on the five core concepts of the CNS role: clinical focus, patient/client advocate, education and training, audit and research, and consultant.
Requirements:
  • Must be a registered nurse/midwife on the active register of Nurses and Midwives held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Hold a minimum of 1 year's post-registration full-time experience or an aggregate of 1 year's full-time experience in the relevant division of the register.
  • Have a minimum of 1 year's experience or an aggregate of 1 year's full-time experience in the specialist area of memory disorders care.
  • Must have successfully completed a post-registration programme of study relevant to the specialist area of care or have equivalent ECTS credits.
Desirable Skills:
  • Nurse prescribing registration or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare patient record systems.
  • Experience in teaching and assessing junior staff/nursing students.
  • Experience in carrying out audits.
