About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Specialist to join our team in advising on data protection matters across the business involving complex legal and regulatory issues. This will include advising on data protection governance, data transfers, incident response, and new data-related laws. As a key member of our global privacy program, you will develop and improve privacy frameworks and processes to ensure we meet our obligations under global privacy laws. You will also support business teams in evaluating the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance, enforcement actions, and provide subject-matter expertise in relevant areas.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need a strong understanding of global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines. You should have a minimum of 5+ years of relevant legal experience, including at a law firm or prior in-house experience (applicable litigation, regulatory or more general product counselling experience will be considered). You must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable. In addition, you should be articulate and analytical with sound legal and business judgment and strategic thinking. Experience working on multiple projects in a deadline-focused environment, delivering practical advice under pressure, and enthusiastic about technology and its potential for positive impact in peoples' lives is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
- Support Meta's global privacy program, including developing and improving privacy frameworks and processes to ensure compliance with global privacy laws
- Support business teams in evaluating the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance, enforcement actions, and providing subject-matter expertise in relevant areas
- Develop and maintain subject-matter expertise in relevant areas
- Engage with privacy regulators in connection with investigations and new initiatives
