
Early Childhood Support Specialist

Job Opportunity:
We are seeking a qualified educator to provide support and supervision for students in an early childhood setting.
This role involves developing and implementing age-appropriate learning programs, leading activities, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with classroom teachers to develop and implement child-care programs that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- Lead activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and providing opportunities for creative expression through art, drama, music, and physical activity.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment that protects the well-being of children.
- Assess children's abilities, interests, and needs, and discuss progress or problems with the classroom teacher.
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral concerns and prepare reports as required.
- Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- Act in a manner consistent with professional requirements related to all aspects of their work.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a two-year college diploma in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.
- A minimum of two years experience working in a school, early learning center, educational setting, or registered childcare.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCVI) training is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Education full day early learning program.
- Demonstrated experience with age-appropriate programs.
- Knowledge of early acquisition of literacy and numerical skills.
- Experience with classroom management.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and ability to work closely with students with complex needs.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion.
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
