Electrical Artificer Role

Maintaining and repairing onboard electrical systems is a crucial aspect of the Naval Service. As an Electrical Artificer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Electrical System Maintenance: Performing regular checks and maintenance on power generation, distribution, and automated control systems to prevent faults and ensure optimal performance.
  • Fault Diagnosis and Repair: Identifying and resolving electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuity of operations.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must possess certain skills and qualifications:

  • Irish Citizenship or Eligibility: Must be an Irish citizen or have legal entitlement to work in Ireland.
  • Medical and Physical Standards: Meet medical, physical, and security clearance standards.
  • Age Requirement: Be between 18 and 39 years old on the date of application.
  • Relevant Qualifications: Hold relevant qualifications (HETAC Level 7 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics & Instrumentation, or Marine Electrotechnology; or QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft in Electrical, Electrical Instrumentation, or Instrumentation).

This role offers a competitive remuneration package:

Salary: €49 basic salary with annual increments.

Tax-Free Allowances: In addition to your salary, you will receive tax-free allowances.

The recruitment process involves a series of assessments, including a fitness test, competency-based interview, medical exam, and Garda vetting. These assessments are conducted at the Naval Base, Haulbowline Island, Cork.
