Reliability Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Reliability Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for increasing the reliability of process and utility equipment, supporting manufacturing requirements for dependability, quality, safety, and costs.

The ideal candidate will work closely with the Technical Services Group and operations teams to identify and prioritize equipment issues. They will analyze equipment failures and develop strategies to improve equipment reliability through design, installation, operation, and servicing.

The role involves establishing maintenance metrics, collecting and interpreting data, initiating root cause analysis investigations, and implementing countermeasures to reduce equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish Maintenance Metrics: Develop and maintain a series of maintenance metrics to drive behaviors for improved equipment reliability.
  • Analyze Data: Collect and interpret data from various sources to determine the significant contributors of maintenance downtime.
  • RCA Investigations: Initiate and lead root cause analysis investigations for equipment failure, including equipment design and installation, operation, and servicing.
  • Improve Equipment Reliability: Improve the reliability of installed equipment by enhancing maintenance procedures and automation sequencing.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering: Support design engineering in selecting and installing equipment for optimum reliability, availability, and maintainability.
  • Process Improvement: Assist Process Engineers in determining causes of performance degradation of equipment.
  • Quality Assurance: Support quality in non-conformance/corrective action duties.
  • AdHoc Duties: Perform ad-hoc duties as required.
  • Reduce Equipment Issues: Utilize appropriate techniques and tools to reduce equipment issues, including downtime, deviations, health and safety incidents, and expenses.
  • Asset Strategy: Develop an asset strategy for the lifetime of Stryker assets, including creating and updating the asset register and determining useful life.
  • Predictive Maintenance: Ensure proper application of predictive maintenance technologies across the site, including equipment coverage, data interpretation, and corrective actions.
  • Criticality Assessment: Determine equipment criticality based on business requirements around quality, health and safety, mechanical integrity, manufacturing capacity, and financial impact.
  • CMMS Expertise: Maintain technical expertise in the use of CMMS systems for documenting equipment history, ensuring CMMS data accuracy, and maintaining structure.
  • Spare Parts Strategy: Help determine spare parts identification and stocking strategy.
  • Maintenance Critical Process: Ensure adherence to maintenance critical process and issue reports to production.
  • Tech Innovation: Seek and implement new technologies to enhance equipment performance and monitoring.
  • PM Plans and Procedures: Maintain and review Preventive Maintenance Plans and Procedures for operations maintenance.
  • Quality Compliance: Ensure Quality compliance for all in-house and contract maintenance activities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and Implement Continuous Improvement activities to support Lean initiatives, cost reduction, and maintenance excellence.
  • Training Requirements: Assist with the Identification and Implementation of training requirements.
  • Facilities Maintenance: Assist with Facilities maintenance activities as necessary.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A 3rd level degree in an engineering discipline, with a minimum of 3/5 years' relevant experience in a similar environment.
  • A proven track record in a maintenance engineering role.
  • Knowledge in maintenance best practice systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
