Clinical Nurse Specialist Role


We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist to fill a permanent full-time position with 37.5 hours per week or part-time contract with 18.75 hours per week.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist mental health support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families in a person-centred, community-based, socially inclusive manner.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care and services.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Conduct regular assessments and reviews to ensure optimal care outcomes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices, research, and quality standards in mental health and intellectual disability care.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by NMBI.
  • Minimum 1 year's experience or an aggregate of 1 year's full-time experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
  • Successful completion or willingness to undertake a level 9 post-registration QQI national qualification relevant to the specialist area (Child and Adolescent Mental Health of Intellectual Disability).
  • Continuous Professional Development relevant to the specialist area.
  • Full clean driving licence and use of own car.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and effective caseload management skills.
