Communication Specialist


Job Overview:

This role focuses on evaluating and treating individuals with speech and language disorders, utilizing advanced technical equipment to analyze voice patterns and examine factors involved in producing speech.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans for clients with complex communication needs.
  2. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including family members, caregivers, and other professionals, to set treatment goals and objectives.
  3. Design and deliver training programs for staff teams to enhance their ability to support clients with communication difficulties.
  4. Develop and implement strategies to prevent future communication challenges.
  5. Refer clients to specialist services when necessary, ensuring seamless coordination of care.
  6. Establish effective working relationships with external professionals, such as psychologists, doctors, and ENT specialists.
  7. Maintain accurate clinical records and compile reports on client progress, including symptoms, treatments, and outcomes.
  8. Provide individualized coaching to clients to improve their communication skills.
  9. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and other relevant discussions to ensure cohesive care planning.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Registration with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Specialized training in FEDS (Feeding, Eating, Drinking, Swallowing) assessment and treatment.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, and best practices in the field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
