Job Role Overview

The Mechanical Technician role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of process devices, instrumentation, and controls in a vaccine manufacturing environment.

This involves maintaining and troubleshooting equipment to ensure objectives are met in compliance with safety and quality standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Maintenance Lead to achieve this goal.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and troubleshoot process devices, instrumentation, and controls to ensure reliable operation and optimal uptime.
  • Provide technical support to Production for machine and equipment maintenance, installation, modification, calibration, PMs, and troubleshooting.
  • Operate and clean process equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain process and production equipment, ensuring preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for reliable operation; drive Total Productive Maintenance.
  • Manage equipment shutdown schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Support maintenance planning and execution of work orders, calibrations, and PMs.
  • Document maintenance activities, upgrades, and parts used for accurate records.
  • Operate and monitor support equipment using MES/DCS and PLC systems to ensure optimal uptime and outputs, facilitating continuous improvement using Lean Principles.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and repair complex systems such as Autoclaves, Glassware Washers, HVAC, Isolators, filling lines, and inspection lines in a cGMP environment.
  • Interpret P&ID diagrams, layouts, wiring diagrams, and specifications for maintenance and repairs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including repairs, upgrades, and system failure investigations.
  • Perform root cause analysis of system failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage spare parts and equipment data in CMMS, liaising with vendors as needed.
  • Support general facility upkeep and customer support.
  • Assist in writing and revising operational procedures and training materials, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Adhere to global policies, procedures, and cGMP standards in daily activities.
  • Promote a safe and compliant work culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Serviced MAMF Apprenticeship or equivalent Certificate/Diploma in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in a cGMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment.
  • Hands-on experience in preventive/reactive maintenance.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and pneumatic processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical communication skills.
