Job Opportunity: Neurology Occupational Therapist

Job Description:

As a senior occupational therapist in our neurology department, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality care to patients with neurological conditions. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement effective treatment plans that promote patient independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of patients with neurological conditions, conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing interventions as required.
  • Supervise junior occupational therapists and therapy assistants, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to establish care pathways and share best practices in occupational therapy.
  • Participate in continuing professional development, staying up-to-date with the latest research and evidence-based practice in occupational therapy.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A recognized qualification in occupational therapy and registration with CORU (the Health & Social Care Professionals Regulatory Authority) in Ireland.
  • At least 3 years of post-qualification experience working with patients with neurological conditions, including Parkinson's disease, motor neuron disease, stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, ataxia, neuropathies, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Experience in supervising staff grade and junior occupational therapists and/or students and/or therapy assistants.
  • Complex seating experience and ability to complete functional cognitive assessments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
