Amazon prioritizes workplace safety and has implemented various measures to ensure a secure environment for its employees. As a key member of the High-Risk Operations team, the Regional Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager, EU RME is responsible for providing direct support and partnership to one or more of the Europe Reliability & Maintenance Engineering pillars. This involves engaging with technical Subject Matter Experts within WHS, RME, and other functions to continually improve network WHS standards and procedures. The individual supports the field in program execution but also supports the WHS RME Regional Manager and WHS Program Manager who is responsible for developing RME related WHS programs. The available locations for this role include Luxembourg, London, Munich, and Madrid.

The job responsibilities include developing a deep working relationship and partnership with RME and WHS stakeholders for the pillar(s) that directly supported, establishing incident investigation, escalation, and reporting structures, ensuring risks of maintenance operations are assessed, and reduction measures are implemented. Additionally, the role involves ensuring policies and requirements are effectively communicated, sites have the ability to ask questions to gain further clarification, and methods for tracking completion are established. It also includes reviewing KPIs and incidents to determine which require WHS Alerts or RME Safety Network Actions, driving site RME and WHS teams to develop content through the WHS communications process. Furthermore, partnering with High Risk Operations team, equipment OEMs, Ops Engineering, RME, Operations, Global Risk Team, etc., on equipment-related incidents where design or retrofits may be necessary across multiple business units, supporting RME Leadership in improving technician engagement to have strong ownership and bias for action in escalating safety issues, task creep, stop work authority, and peer review-related safety programs. A day in the life involves working backwards starting with customer needs and partnering with stakeholders to identify and mitigate high-risk safety hazards, ensuring maintenance operations remain safe.
