We are hiring a Setting Out Engineer based in North Kerry.
- Read and understand the company's safety statement and ensure that it is brought to the notice of any employee under your control.
- Need to be familiar with the company's health, safety, quality, and environment management systems.
- Need to be familiar with current statutory requirements in relation to HSE legislation or know where to find the correct information.
- Comply with all safety requirements.
- Create method statements and risk assessments for the works.
- Prepare and brief toolbox talks.
- Ensure that information affecting the health and safety of any person on a proposed site is brought to the attention of the contracts manager.
- Report to your manager any unsafe situation observed.
- Carr y out your own work in a safe manner, take precautions when working on or near public roads or water, wear any necessary protective clothing or equipment.
- Should the project manager/site agent be absent, the senior site engineer will assume this temporary role regarding health and safety and environmental issues.
- Quality control in accordance with company procedures, method statements, quality plans, and inspection and test plans.
Site Management:
- Liaise with internal teams including planning, construction, design, commercial, and HSQE.
- Liaise with third parties including local authorities, utility providers, and statutory authorities.
- Ensure that you have an overall understanding of the project scope.
- Check/understand specifications, drawings, and other contract documents.
- Set out, level, and survey the site in accordance with the drawings and specification.
- Prepare labour, plant, and material returns.
- Prepare as-built drawings, technical reports, and site diaries.
- Liaise with purchasing departments to ensure that purchase orders adequately define the specified requirements.
- Requisition materials and plant.
- Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, site supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce.
- Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and subcontractors.
- Resolve technical issues with employer's representatives, suppliers, subcontractors, and statutory authorities.
Planning:
- Liaise with foremen, reviewing upcoming works.
- Carr y out post-construction analysis to assist with future planning.
- Assist with creating budgets for the project.
- Be familiar with the form of contract on the project and the implications that any variation or change orders will have on the program and costs.
- Be familiar with the program and what implications any overrun will have in relation to costs and manpower.
- Liaise with the project manager/planner regarding construction programmes, programme constraints, etc.
- Plan the work and efficiently organize the plant and site facilities to meet programme deadlines.
About You:
We are looking for applicants who possess the following qualities:
- A master's degree in engineering to support competency in the role.
- At least 2 years of experience as a setting out engineer.
- A member of the relevant professional institution.
- Relevant experience via work placements/volunteer placements and performance on similar projects.
