Strategic Grid Manager

Description:

This is a leadership role responsible for the strategic planning and execution of integrated technology and infrastructure initiatives that will ensure organisational success in the renewable energy landscape.

The Strategic Grid Manager will lead the development of comprehensive grid and infrastructure plans that align with national energy policies and industry standards, ensuring future readiness and scalability. This involves working closely with colleagues across various teams to ensure our infrastructure plans are achievable and aligned with the company's strategic vision.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical understanding of electricity transmission grid planning, development, and operation, as well as experience in managing large-scale projects and stakeholder relationships. They will be able to lead cross-functional teams and deliver projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

In addition, they will possess strong commercial acumen, including budget control, procurement, contract management, and negotiation, as well as resource optimisation skills. A postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Management, or Commercial disciplines would be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years' experience in energy or large-scale infrastructure projects, with a proven track record of managing large-scale projects and ownership of project or process delivery.

They will be highly adaptable and innovative with strong problem-solving skills, able to collaborate with key stakeholders and regulatory bodies to achieve business objectives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Third-level degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in energy or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Proven track record managing large-scale projects and ownership of project or process delivery
  • Strong technical understanding of electricity transmission grid planning, development, and operation
  • Familiarity with regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks relevant to energy infrastructure in Ireland
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and deliver projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Experience collaborating with key stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP or equivalent) is desirable
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in budget control, procurement, contract management and negotiation, and resource optimisation
  • Highly adaptable and innovative with strong problem-solving skills
