Job DescriptionWe are looking for a part-time Health and Safety Officer to coordinate and manage health and safety initiatives in all sites.
This contract will be for one day per week, fixed term for a year.
The successful candidate will have expert knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support safety initiatives, accident investigations, site walks, audits, and training needs.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits across all collection and site-based activities, implementing corrective measures.
- Ensure robust safe systems of work for employees, including manual handling, vehicle safety, and PPE requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines for all collection activities and maintenance operations.
- Conduct regular H&S checks and audits, assisting with accident/incident investigations, and organizing safety training sessions.
- Maintain safety and training records, ensuring compliance and scheduling refresher training as required.
- Report on KPI metrics and implement actions to improve safety performance.
- Interpret and advise on the implementation of H&S legislation, staying abreast of relevant legislative changes.
- Keep all H&S processes up to date.
- Train and educate all staff in Health and Safety.
Requirements:
- Professional qualification in Health and Safety (IOSH, NEBOSH).
- Expert knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
- Strong commitment to safety culture and process improvement.
- Experience in auditing, inspecting, and managing health and safety in a multi-site environment.
- Knowledge of fire safety and risk assessments.
