Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced RGN to join our team as a Practice Nurse in a private ophthalmology clinic based in South Dublin.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a hospital or theatre setting and be looking to move into a role with set hours.

The position involves working as part of the nursing team to perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing on patients, complete virtual consultations, scrubbing for laser eye surgery procedures, and managing patients on the day of surgery.

The successful candidate will also assist with planning cataract and lens procedures by calculating IOLs to be used by the surgeon during the procedure.

Responsibilities:
  • Working as part of the Nursing team to perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing on patients as part of clinical work ups for consultations at the Clinic.
  • Completing virtual consultations with patients to capture motivations for surgery, medical history, visual needs etc prior to their consultation with the Surgeon.
  • Scrubbing for laser eye surgery procedures performed in the dedicated theatre at the clinic.
  • Managing patients on the day of surgery (consent discussion, medication management, counselling on postoperative instructions, completion of slit lamp examinations as part of discharging patients).
  • Assisting with planning cataract and lens procedures by calculating IOLs to be used by the Surgeon during the procedure.
