Health Care Assistant - Cystic Fibrosis Department Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Health Care Assistant to join our team in the Cystic Fibrosis Department.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who want to make a real difference in the lives of patients and their families. As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of patient care under the supervision of qualified nursing personnel.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, laundry, dietary intake, physical and mental health. They will also be expected to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and colleagues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting patients/residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, laundry, dietary intake, physical and mental health.
  • Communicating effectively with patients/residents, relatives, and colleagues.
  • Reporting incidents or potential incidents compromising resident safety.
  • Engaging residents in meaningful activities promoting socialization and participation.

To be successful in this role, you will need relevant Health Skills qualification at QQI Level 5 (e.g., Healthcare Support, Nursing Studies, Community Care). You should also have currently employed as a Healthcare Assistant or comparable role for at least 2 years, with a commitment to acquire an appropriate Health Skills qualification within 2 years of taking up post.

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant Health Skills qualification at QQI Level 5 (e.g., Healthcare Support, Nursing Studies, Community Care).
  • Currently employed as a Healthcare Assistant or comparable role for at least 2 years, with a commitment to acquire an appropriate Health Skills qualification within 2 years of taking up post.
