Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality ecological consultancy services through effective contract management.
  • Provide expert ecological input for various projects, ensuring alignment with environmental objectives.
  • Plan and conduct site ecological surveys and fieldwork, exercising expertise in ecological assessment.
  • Develop and implement Construction Environmental Management Plans to minimize ecological impact.
  • Conduct Appropriate Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments (EIA), Biodiversity Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), and other environmental reporting requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and deliverables that meet the highest standards.
  • Manage quality by maintaining attention to detail, accuracy, and timely delivery of contracts, while continuously striving to enhance the quality of work produced by the Ecology Team.
  • Serve as an expert witness at Oral Hearings, providing authoritative testimony.
  • Establish strong relationships with clients, attending meetings and collaborating with design teams as necessary.

Requirements:

  • A degree in ecology or a related field is essential.
  • At least 10 years of postgraduate experience in environmental consultancy is required.
  • Membership in professional bodies such as CIEEM, CIWEM, or equivalent is highly valued.
  • Expertise in the oral hearing process and serving as an expert witness is crucial.
  • Detailed knowledge of wildlife and conservation legislation within Ireland is necessary.
  • Excellent technical report writing skills are vital.
  • Experience in preparing and monitoring the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams is critical.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills are necessary.
  • A full clean driving license is required.
