About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Engineer to join our team at Tyndall National Institute. As a Research Engineer, you will play a key role in assisting Principal Investigators and postdoctoral researchers with the development of ongoing research projects and research proposals.

Our team is focused on addressing some of the world's most pressing energy challenges, including decarbonization of energy systems, low-carbon grids, and smart cities and buildings. We are committed to creating a collaborative and innovative environment that drives cutting-edge research and translation of results into practical solutions.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in energy engineering or a related field and experience working on large-scale research projects. You will be expected to contribute to the vision and direction of our energy and buildings research program, manage tasks in collaborative projects, and collaborate with external partners to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist PIs and postdocs with the development of ongoing research projects and research proposals
  • Contribute to the vision and direction of our energy and buildings research program
  • Manage tasks in collaborative projects and collaborate with external partners
  • Participate in education and public engagement activities as required

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in energy engineering or a related field
  • Typically 3 years' experience working in a research environment
  • Strong demonstrable experience in at least two of the following: building energy performance, energy simulation, modelling and experimental validation, stakeholder engagement
  • Experience working/managing H2020 or Horizon Europe projects
