Accommodation Assistant Job Opportunity

The role of an accommodation assistant is a crucial position within the hospitality industry. As an accommodation assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the hotel premises.

This includes performing a range of cleaning duties to ensure that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition.

Responsibilities
  • To ensure high standards of service are achieved at all times.
  • To perform in a professional and courteous manner with all customers (internal & external).
  • To offer an in-depth knowledge of accommodation services and hotel services in general.
  • To ensure all hygiene regulations are adhered to at all times.
  • To comply with statutory and legal requirements for Health & Safety, Fire, Hygiene and Employment.
  • To report to duty on time, in the correct uniform and to wear a name badge.
  • To clean all areas to the hotel standards set out in departmental SOP.
  • To service all guest rooms to hotel standards set out in departmental SOP.
  • To maintain linen handling procedures set out in departmental SOP
  • To handle lost and found items in accordance with the departmental SOP
  • To maintain cleaning schedules in accordance with the departmental SOP
  • To provide a turndown service in accordance with the departmental SOP
  • To inform reception of all room status and report any discrepancies.
  • To provide assistance to reception where required.
  • Cleaning guest rooms: responsible for cleaning and sanitizing guest rooms, including changing bed linens, vacuuming carpets, dusting surfaces, and cleaning bathroom fixtures.
  • Restocking supplies: ensure guest rooms are adequately stocked with toiletries, towels, and other amenities.
  • Public area cleaning: maintain cleanliness of lobbies, corridors, stairways, and elevators (sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing).
  • Back-of-house cleaning: clean and organize staff areas, including break rooms, locker rooms, and offices.
  • Waste disposal: empty and clean waste bins and ensure proper disposal of trash.
  • Reporting maintenance issues: notify management of any maintenance or repair needs in guest rooms or common areas.
  • Adhering to safety and sanitation standards: follow established procedures to ensure a clean and safe environment for guests and staff.
  • Attending training sessions: participate in training sessions to learn new cleaning techniques or safety procedures.
